Throughout the country thousands of volunteer pilots donate their time or personal aircraft to help those in need. More than 90 organizations depend on volunteer pilots to make flights under programs known as Public Benefit Flying.

Some of the groups you may recognize include Angel Flight and Lifeline Pilots (transport of patients for medical care), PilotsNPaws (animal rescue), SouthWings and LightHawk (conservation flights), the EAA Young Eagles program and Wright Flight (youth education) and the Air Care Alliance, “a nationwide network of volunteer pilot groups that deliver impactful and inspiring service through aviation” and a cornerstone in promoting public benefit flying … to name just a few.

The Volunteer Pilots NetWork was designed to bring awareness to not only these organizations but the volunteer pilots who give their time helping others. Launched in 2015, many of these organizations had yet to create an online presence. Whether you are a pilot looking to volunteer or a patient / rescue group in need of transport, reach out directly to the organization, or visit the Air Care Alliance as they are able to pass along requests directly to many of these groups.
